As you have probably already figured out, I am wanting to teach younger elementary students. I love when you get to see the students "Ah-ha!" moment. My favorite thing to do is sing, in high school I was in honor choir as well as show choir. I recieved an award for most outstanding member in show choir and I still take pride in that to this very day. I really like to take my knowledge in music and bring it into the classroom by teaching through song and dance. The students love it and I find great joy in involving them in music. I also love reading to my students, it brings me peace and brings a little adventure into my students day. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family. We enjoy going bowling when we are not busy remodeling our house. During the summer I like to hang out at home and go swimming with my kids. It's safe to say we spend a lot of time in the back yard. Oh! I almost forgot about my animals. I have four dogs who love to play. I also enjoy getting to spend time with them playing and cuddling on the couch watching movies after a long day.

Websites that have helped me through my educational journey
www.teacherspayteachers.com - I love this website. This website has an activity for just about anything. I like to browse teachers pay teachers when making lesson plans. This is a great website to look at when you are stuck on what activites to do for a particular lesson. Teachers pay teachers is a page where teachers can post their lesson idea and they either very graciously let other teachers use it for free or they charge a minimal fee to use their content. It is a great teaching resource.
www.scholastic.com - This website is full of teacher resources. They have an area called "scholastic teachables" which is an area full of fun learning ideas for kids. This website doesn't have as many free resources as teacherspayteachers, however the resources that are available are worth paying for. This is also a great "one stop shop" for classroom materials, whether it is games, books, or even wobble chairs, scholastic is a great place to look.
www.crayola.com- Crayola is also a great teacher resource for arts and crafts. It gives different crafts and also provides full blown lesson plans that go along with the crafts. (I personally suggest using your own lesson plan.) Teachers may not know to come to the crayola website for resources but they should go explore it. They may be surprised with what they find.
Storybook

My online storybook called "Counting Through Halloween Night" can be found at the link posted above. This storybook was created with young children in mind. It was created to help students learn to count by giving them a topic that most young children would be interested in. I chose the Halloween theme due to the fact that I wrote the book so close to Halloween. I used what was around me at the time as inspiration.

Educational Philosophy
My Philosophy of education includes making a loving, welcome, and safe learning environment for my students. I will have a plan set in place on the first day of school that introduces classroom procedures from the start. Without having a plan on how I want the year to go, I might as well set myself up for failure. I do not want that, I want to set the class up for success and by doing that my students and I will both have a great year. I will set up my room to be welcoming and culturally diverse. I will be accepting and inviting to every student who walks in my door. When students feel welcome and know they are wanted in the classroom they are more likely to want to follow the rules of the classroom, and less likely they are to give major problems. I will be consistent in order to build trust within my students. Without trust it opens the door for misbehavior in the classroom. I will allow my student’s to help create a social contract or rules that we will all agree upon and sign as a class. I will greet my students everyday to let them know that I am happy and thankful that they are in my class every single day. I will give them my undivided attention leaving home stress at the door. I will dress to impress to ensure that my students know that I respect myself as well as respecting them. I will inform my students that we are all human and will make mistakes. I will admit to my own mistakes. I will stay positive even when I am angry and will do my best to share nothing but positive energy to my students. I will focus on the kids needs and provide them with my undivided attention when they need my help. I will respect my students as I will ask them to do the same for me. I will have a seating chart to prevent trouble makers from sitting in the back together, and I will encourage all students to participate in the events for the day. I will have a discipline plan with step based consequences that get bigger as the misbehavior continues. The goal will be to prevent the misbehavior from happening in the first place. By putting all my goals listed together, I truly believe I have set my classroom up for success.
